Are you struggling with stress? This will change your life

SafePoint Talk Kristýna Svatoňová 8/25/2025

Discover a joy and peace that don't depend on circumstances — even when you're in the middle of chaos.

Every day dozens of duties, notifications, and expectations push in on you. Your phone wakes you up in the morning, you can't keep up during the day, and by evening you don't even have the energy to think about what you actually want from life. And in the middle of all that you're somehow supposed to "function," be productive, grateful, nice, ideally with a clear head. But what if you're just trying to survive? What if underneath the surface you've been suffocating for a long time under stress, inner chaos, or the feeling that you've lost your way?

This question isn't just for people in midlife. Maybe you're twenty and you already feel like you can't keep this up. And that's exactly where an old but incredibly relevant text from the Bible comes in. From the letter to the Philippians, written by the apostle Paul. But don't worry — this isn't religious moralizing. It's the testimony of a man who even when facing death and having lost everything, wrote about a joy and peace that no one could take from him.

What if there's a way to find inner calm, even while a storm is raging around you?

A joy that isn't an illusion

Paul writes: "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice." That sounds almost like a joke if you've just had a hard day, or a whole hard month. But if you look deeper, you'll see he's talking about a completely different kind of joy. Not the brief spark you get from buying something new, getting a like, or things going well for a moment.

Paul is talking about a joy that comes from the inner conviction that your life has meaning, even when it isn't perfect. A joy that holds you up even when everything is falling apart. It's not cheap positivity, but a state born out of trust. Trust that God is with you, even when you don't feel it. That your story continues, even when you don't know how.

This isn't emotional manipulation. It's a challenge. Because if it's possible to experience joy in the middle of stress, then you have a chance to get back something today's world is stealing from you: inner stability.

Prayer as an anchor point

The next words in the text are almost like instructions: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

Here comes something crucial: prayer isn't a religious ritual. It's a space where you can be yourself. A place where you take off the masks, stop pretending, and finally say things out loud. What's bothering you, what hurts, what you're afraid of. You can curse, cry, be silent. You can tell God you're not even sure he exists. And all of that is okay.

Through prayer, your head quiets down a little. You start to see things differently. Maybe not right away, but gradually you'll notice that the stress that was suffocating you no longer has the power it once had. As if someone were carrying it with you. And you know what? Maybe someone really is.

A peace that doesn't make sense

The peak of the text comes in this verse: "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

This is important: a peace that transcends all understanding. In other words — a peace that makes absolutely no sense. You should be stressed, but you're not. You should be anxious, but you feel calm. You should be at rock bottom, but there's something solid inside you holding you up.

Maybe you've experienced this before — a brief moment when everything just stopped and you felt that everything was exactly as it should be. For no reason. With no explanation. That's not a coincidence. That's exactly the peace Paul is talking about.

You can't buy this peace, you won't find it in a self-help book or a productivity podcast. It comes from a relationship with God. Not with religion. With a God who knows you and cares about you.

What if I don't believe?

This is a common question. And completely okay. Faith isn't about uncritically agreeing with everything. Faith is a journey. A process. You can start just by sitting down one evening and saying out loud what you feel. Even something like: "God, I don't know if you exist, but I need help." That's enough. Something opens up because of it.

Paul didn't start out as a saint either. Quite the opposite — he was a harsh critic of faith. But one encounter with God changed his life. And the same thing can happen to you.

How to start differently

Try a small challenge: find ten minutes of silence tonight. Turn off the lights, the music, the notifications. And ask yourself: What's weighing on me right now? What am I afraid of? What do I long for?

Then tell it all to God. Simply, without a filter. Don't expect the sky to light up. But watch what happens inside you. Maybe you'll just relax a little. Maybe you'll cry. Maybe you'll feel a strange calm. And maybe, for the first time in a long while, you won't feel the need to prove anything.

This is the space where life starts to change. Not in a leap, but step by step. And this is exactly how the joy and peace Paul talked about are born. They don't depend on your mood, your results, or your circumstances. They're a gift that's here when you open yourself to it.

In conclusion

Stress won't disappear. Society's pressure won't either. But you can change. You can find an inner strength that holds you up in the storm. You can discover a joy that isn't fragile, and a peace no one can take from you. That's not an illusion. That's the reality Paul lived. And one you can live too.

All it takes is the first step.
